Developing pupils tolerance, understanding and inclusion...

Religious Education is taught in all Key Stages in line with the Derbyshire agreed syllabus 2020-2025.

Religious Education contributes to the education of our pupils by provoking challenging questions about meaning and purpose in life, beliefs about God, ultimate reality, issues of right and wrong and what it means to be human. Within lessons pupils learn about and from religions and worldviews in local, national and global contexts, to discover, explore and consider different answers to these questions.

In Primary 1 pupils will encounter Christianity and other faiths, as part of their growing sense of self, their own community and their place within it.

In Primary 2 pupils will begin to look at the key features of Christianity and other religions through looking at beliefs, sacred places and caring for others.

In Key Stage 3 pupils will study a range of religions and explore them in more detail to understand different beliefs, festivals, places of worship and discover what we can learn from these religions.

In Key Stage 4 pupils undertake ASDAN qualification units to further there knowledge and understanding. Pupils are also encouraged to develop their thinking skills in order to form their own thoughts, opinions and ideas about the world around them which is important to develop their sense of self.
