African Drumming Workshop

As part of their ongoing Theme project, the students were involved in African Drumming workshops. They had the opportunity to handle different West African artefacts, learning about these items through discussion and first-hand experience. The students found out the correct way of playing Djembe drums and how they can make a wide variety of sounds using different parts of their hand. They then implemented these techniques to create a piece of music and perform it as a group. It has been a very noisy, exciting and interesting day!
