International Ski Trip

Pupils from Swanwick School and Sports college took part in an international ski trip to Samoens, a village in the French Alps, by the Grand Massif mountain range. Accompanied by staff from SSSC we set off on Saturday 20th January to catch a flight from Birmingham airport to Geneva Airport. From there we took a taxi transfer to their chalet for the week in the lovely village of Samoens in the shadow of Mont Blanc. Pupils enjoyed learning to ski everyday with their ski instructors Regi and Chemi with some amazing progress made. All pupils learned to safely ski on blue and green slopes. We had a picnic piste side everyday with lovely views of the Alps and enjoyed hot chocolate with whipped cream on top as a warm drink mid lesson. During the week other cultural experiences took place such as a visit to the French market where we tasted Crepes. We had chance to perfect our French conversational skills by visiting the bakery more than once. Pupils were also treated to a French food tasting experience. Every evening we had a group meeting where pupils were able to talk about their experiences of the day and what to expect the following day. We also were able to spend time in the chalets hot tub, watch films, play cards and board games. We arrived back into Birmingham airport and subsequently to SSSC to be met by gathering parents who had followed the progress of the trip through pictures posted to them throughout the week. Memories and experiences that will last a lifetime were made by our pupils and staff.
